BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC SCHOOL
“A NATIONAL SCHOOL OF CHARACTER”
ATTENDANCE LINE: (801) 572-0251, please be sure to call the attendance line by 8:00am.
Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday, the beginning of Lent. Often times we don’t look forward to the 40 days of sacrifice and self-denial that are part of the season. However, Lent can also be viewed as a yearly second chance. Each year the Church gives us six weeks to take a long, loving look at our lives to see if our values and priorities are in line with God’s desires for us. Since most of us find that we’ve wandered from God’s path, Lent becomes that second chance, or do-over. What a great gift. Here is a nice prayer for Ash Wednesday.
God of goodness and mercy,
Hear my prayer as I begin this Lenten journey with you. Let me be honest with myself as I look into my heart and soul, noticing the times I turn away from you. Guide me as I humbly seek to repent and return to your love.
May humility guide my efforts to be reconciled with you and live forever in your abundant grace.
Transform me this Lent, heavenly Father. Give me the strength to commit myself to grow closer to you each day.
DID YOU KNOW-
- We got the results from the Math Placement tests @ Juan Diego and 100 % of Advanced Math kids tested into Honors math at Juan Diego, with 90 % going into Geometry Honors.
- Each year students from the grade level math class also test into Honors Math classes and this year was no exception. Great work Bobcats!
- We will have the drawing to receive $1,000 off next year’s tuition after our First Friday Prayer on March 3rd. Thank you to everyone who turned in the enrollment forms on time. This is necessary for us as we begin planning for next year.
- Our 8th grade boys are awesome! During the Middle School dance some boys thought it would be fun to throw wet paper towel balls at each other in our bathroom. Our boys noticed the mess they made and without anyone knowing cleaned up the mess. My “little birdies” told me at the end of the evening. They have truly learned the community of caring values!
- Blessed Sacrament Catholic School is looking for an enthusiastic, loving person to manage the new toddler program. Please contact me if you are or know of someone who is interested.
- We have a Refer-A-Family Program. If you refer a family and they register their child you are eligible for a cash reward! Tell your friends about our great school.
- Only 58 days till Springfest!
The Installation of our new Bishop will take place on Tuesday March 7th. Two of our students were selected to attend this special event. Jessica Lamb and Alex Harvey will be representing Blessed Sacrament Catholic School as they are excellent examples of all the students that attend our school. Please join them as we pray for the new Bishop, Oscar Solis, next week.
Peace and blessings,

VIRTUE, ACTION AND SAINT
During the month of March students and teachers will focus on the Virtue of Optimism. Optimism is the perfect word for spring. Hopefulness and confidence in the future is a beautiful way to start the month of March and the season of spring.
Students will be putting together kitchen kits for Catholic Community Services for the refugee program. Many times refugees come to the United States just with the clothes they are wearing. They are filled with optimism about their future and the kitchen kits are a wonderful way to say “Welcome to America!”
Saint Philomena is the perfect saint for the month of March. Saint Philomena translates to filia luminis or daughter of light. She is the enlightener of the dark. She is the Patroness of the Children of Mary. Her mission today is to draw us to the Immaculate Heart of Mary through imitation of her heroic virtues of purity, obedience and humility. Saint Philomena is an anchor of HOPE in our life.
We are asking for a donation from each student at the school to enable us to put together 12 kitchen kits for the refugee program. Each of these donations can be purchased at the Dollar Store. You do not need to buy anything expensive. The Dollar Store items work wonderfully!
