BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC SCHOOL

A NATIONAL SCHOOL OF CHARACTER

ATTENDANCE LINE: (801) 572-0251, please be sure to call the attendance line by 8:00am.

Tonight is our 8th grade Graduation Mass! Father Dinsdale will be the celebrant and Monsignor Servatius will concelebrate. What a blessing to have them both here. The Gospel reading (Matt 25:34-40) for graduation Mass fits perfectly for this group of 8th graders. They are a group that recognizes those around them that are in need and are willing to show mercy to all those around them. Please pray for them and their families as they begin their new journey.

DID YOU KNOW:

  • Students will have summer work to do! Keep an eye out for information from your teachers. K-8th will have books they need to read over the summer and Aleks will be available for students to continue to build their skills.
  • PK-K graduation is next Wednesday. I can’t believe how much everyone has grown.
  • Field Day, Thursday 5/25 is a 1:00 dismissal.
  • Last Day of School is Friday 5/26. Please have your child dress in formal uniform as we will attend the 9:00 am Mass. It will be a 10:30 dismissal, Little Blessings will close @ 10:30.
  • We just received a lovely note from a family who moved out of state this year. They wanted us to know that their son “has placed into honors classes in math, science, and reading for middle school…This is proof Blessed Sacrament{is}a high quality school that develops it’s students so that they can succeed.” Thanks for keeping us updated.
  • We are here to answer questions! Any time you hear something that you want more information about or concerns you, please call the office or me at 801-572-5311.
  • We have a Refer-A-Family Program. If you refer a family and they register their child you are eligible for a cash reward! Tell your friends about our great school.

Springfest earned $67,000!!! What an amazing out pouring of support. Because of your generosity we will be able to purchase new science textbooks and support material to better meet the Next Generation Science Standards. The money generated by Springfest and the Fall fundraiser are crucial to helping us meet our budget requirements and when they are as successful as they were this year, allow for program and facility improvements. They also will allow the HSA to provide an awesome new feature to our front playground—keep your eyes open for that! If you see an HSA member/Springfest committee person make sure you thank them for all their hard work. Our children all benefit.

Peace and blessings,
Bryan Penn,
M.S.Ed.L
Principal

LOVE AND LOGIC
Some of the brattiest kids I’ve ever met have been ones endowed with special gifts from birth. Why? Early in their lives, the adults around them became so enamored by their special talents that they let them get away with sin!

Academically gifted kids are far too frequently allowed to argue and negotiate about how the home or classroom should be run. Athletically gifted kids are too often allowed to break all sorts of rules without being held accountable. Extremely attractive children often learn that they can get their way if they cast the right little look.

The sturdiest homes crumble when built on foundations of sand. Such is the case when we become so distracted by our children’s gifts that we make excuses for their misbehavior. The world is filled with gifted people who live lives of misery. Why? Because they were never expected to struggle for anything, they were always allowed to run the show, and they were rarely held accountable for the problems they created. Just one glance at the lives of many Hollywood “elite” illustrates this point in vivid detail.

Thanks for wanting more for your talented children!
