Uniforms

All uniform clothing must bare the label of Dennis Uniforms.

Parents are responsible to see that their children are dressed appropriately. All clothing will be clean and in good repair. Exceptions to the uniform policy must have the Administration’s approval. If a child is out of uniform, a written excuse from the parent is required. The teachers and the administration will enforce the code, issuing an Out of Uniform Notice if necessary. If a student receives two notices in one month, they will be excluded from the Earned Free Dress Day. The administration will determine if a student’s appearance is appropriate for Blessed Sacrament Catholic School. This includes, but is not limited to, the following:

Girls

Formal Dress: Mass and designated ‘formal dress’ days

Pre-K – 3rd Grade

  • Plaid jumper with Peter Pan collared shirt. Optional cardigan.
    • Polo shirts can not be worn with jumper
  • Skort with polo shirt/Peter Pan collared shirt. Required vest/pullover/cardigan

4th – 8th Grade

  • Plaid Skirt with oxford shirt. Required vest/pullover/cardigan
  • Skort with oxford shirt. Required vest/pullover/cardigan

Non-Formal Dress

Pre-K – 3rd Grade

All Students

  • Belts are required for 1st – 8th grades and may be the following colors: plain black, dark brown or navy
  • All students may wear blue or red zip-up sweatshirts with the Blessed Sacrament logo. These do not take the place of a vest or cardigan on Formal Dress Days.
  • Girls may wear solid colored (no logo) knee, crew or ankle socks that cover the ankle or tights in: red, white, navy blue and black. No nylons or tights that appear as nylons may be worn.
  • Boys may wear solid color crew or ankle socks that cover the ankle in: red, white, navy blue or black.

Shoes Pre-K – 8th Grade

  • Dress or athletic shoes with non-marking sole must be worn
  • Acceptable shoe colors include: red, white, navy blue, black, dark brown and dark grey
  • Athletic shoes are required for P.E. in the acceptable shoe colors
  • Extreme fads are not acceptable, this includes but id not limited to: neon, glitter, lights, cartoon characters or shoes with wheels. Mules, clogs, sandals, ‘booties’ and open toe shoes are not allowed
  • Height of the heel for Pre-K – 5th grade may not exceed one inch
  • Height of the heel for Middle School may not exceed two inches
  • During winter months, boots may be worn outside, but please switch back into shoes while in the building

As a parent, if you have any questions please see your teacher before your child wears the shoe so that it may be returned to the store if necessary.

Additional Requirements

  • Girls may wear navy or black bike shorts (for modesty) under skirts and jumpers as long as they are not visible
  • Shirts must be tucked in at all times
  • Shirts must be worn under sweatshirts and the collar must be worn on the outside
  • No outside clothing (coats, hats, sweatshirts that are not Blessed Sacrament logo wear etc.) may be worn in the classroom.
  • Clothing must fit the child. No oversized clothing may be worn
  • Length of skirts, skorts and shorts must not be more than two inches above the knee, worn at the waistline and not rolled at the waist
  • No low-rise or hip-hugger styles are allowed

Jewelry

  • Girls may wear small post earrings. Boys may not wear earrings
  • No other jewelry (rings, necklaces, etc.) except watches and religious symbol may be worn
  • Medical jewelry is acceptable for those who must wear it
  • Middle School students only, may wear simple jewelry of a non-religious nature

Make-up

  • No make-up is allowed in Pre-K – 6th grade. Light make-up is allowed for 7th and 8th grade girls
  • Pre-K – 5th grade girls may wear clear nail polish only
  • 6th grade girls may wear clear or light pink polish
  • Middle School girls (7th – 8th) grade may wear any color nail polish and nails must be kept to a modest length

The Administration reserves the right to determine if any make-up/polish is appropriate

Hair

  • Hair must be clean and neat, with no ‘extreme’ styles
  • Hair must be the students’ natural color only. No highlights or altering treatment is allowed. Students will not be permitted back in to school until the hair is dyed back to the natural color. Boy’s hair must be kept above the eyebrows, ear and collar
  • Middle School boys (7th – 8th) grade, hair length may be to mid-ear
  • Girl’s hair accessories must be simple and non-distracting in the school colors

Hats

  • Due to cool temperatures, students may wear winter hats during recess and PE, but they must be removed before entering the classroom
  • In order to protect from the sun rays, students may wear a ball cap or sun hat at anytime during the year for recess and PE classes. Again, the hat must be removed before entering the classroom

Non Uniform Day Dress

About once a month, students may earn a ‘Non Uniform Dress Day’, usually the last Friday of the month. Non Uniform Day is earned each month by following the dress code. A student may receive one ‘Out of Uniform Notice’ in the month. A second notice will disqualify tge student for Non Uniform Dress Day that month.

  • All clothing must be clean and in good condition
  • Tops must have sleeves and go below the waist. No low ‘scoop-neck’ shirts, tight shirts or belly shirts may be worn
  • Shorts must follow the length policy of the official uniform
  • No offensive language on clothing is allowed, including alcohol and tobacco graphics
  • Regular hair, make-up and jewelry policies apply for Non Uniform Dress Day
  • No colors, styles or suggestions of gang-related clothing may be worn
  • No oversized clothing may be worn
  • Pants must be worn at the waistline. If leggings are worn, tunic shirt must come down to mid-thigh level
  • No flip-flops or sandals for safety reasons
  • Tights are not pants

P.E. Clothing

Pre-K – 8th Grade

  • All students must wear non-marking athletic shoes

5th – 8th Grades

  • Grades 5th – 8th change for their P.E. class. The Blessed Sacrament Catholic School official gym uniform must be worn.
  • Students will lose academic points for failure to wear P.E. clothing during their assigned P.E. classes
  • No Blessed Sacrament Catholic School ‘team shirts’ are allowed. Red or blue zippered Blessed Sacrament Catholic School hoodie may also be worn with the gym uniform

Winter

Children are to be prepared for winter outdoor play. Boots, hats, coats and gloves are a must. Ski pants are required to play in the snow. Students play outside, weather permitting. Students are not permitted to star inside for recess due to illness or lack of proper winter clothing. Grades 6th – 8th are not allowed on the snow without proper footwear and must have a winter coat suitable for outdoor play.
